title: You are my LIFE now.
Okay. I know I haven't been too 'loud and proud' about my Twilight obsession on this blog page but since the movie's showing soon, I just want to say that, really, I am sooo hooked and probably one of the millions of fans completely addicted to everything Twilight!
The first moment I read the book, I was on KILIG MODE for days, probably for even 2 weeks! I remembered this time when I went out to meet my high school friends. While I was walking home, the romantic scenes on the book came flashing back and I was wearing this humongous smile on my face. The slightly cool breeze was blowing, the UST field was dark and I was alone, smiling to myself. Gosh, it was like a "Karaoke" moment---you know, like when the girl on the background video walks along the shores with her hair being blown by the wind. It was embarrassing! But I seemed not to mind it at all. It was weird because I never expected that a book could have that kind of impact on me. I've read all the Harry Potter books and they were all absolutely wonderful and full of suspense but after reading, I didn't find myself going googly-eyed over the thought of one of the characters. I got goosebumps also but it was mostly because of thrill and adrenaline rush from the revelations and the mind-blowing action going on. In Twilight, my arm hair raised and I felt those butterflies again and this time, it was because of the romance between Edward and Bella. I am a TOTAL sucker for love stories so... I don't know, maybe I just couldn't fully attach myself to the HP gang because they were living in a very different world and their issues were far different from mine. Duh. Haha. I'm still a Potter fanatic though. :)
I just really can't help myself. I am 100% 'dazzled' by the story. And I know, you are, too. For a girl, it's not a secret that she has those moments when she imagines herself meeting the boy of her dreams---the guy who would sweep her off her feet, make her knees weak, make her feel like she's the only girl he'll ever love and make her realize that without her, he has no reason to exist... Well, Bella was able to meet that guy and got the chance to kiss him, too... more than twice! Green monster alert! Hahaha. I guess that's the reason why a lot of girls envy her and want to be like her. She's simple, accident-prone and definitely not the prettiest girl in town but she bagged the hottie and that hottie turned out to be completely head-over-heels in love with her. For that, I give her tons of ganda points! Hehe.
Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella. :)
I think that the book became a phenomenon because millions of people were able to connect themselves with the Edward-Bella relationship. There was a different kind of love involved which is kind of obsessive. But it's appealing, in a way, because no man could ever love a woman like Edward does. And I think, girls want that kind of thing. They want to feel really special and be taken care of like they're the most precious thing in the world. All the romantic fantasies of women were put together and transformed into the form of Edward Cullen. I guess, he was kind of an "icon" for most guys and a "god-like creature" for most girls. Haha. I also think that Bella's bravery and capability to accept her vampire boyfriend the way he is amazed the readers. She was absolutely fearless and she was never afraid to take risks. So I think that these two main characters give a certain HOPE to everyone: that someday, we would all find our own Edward Cullen or Bella Swan, or, probably, our inner Edward/Bella.
With the movie, I put my faith in Director Catherine Hardwicke and the whole cast of the film adaptation. I think it's going to be pretty huge! It's the opportunity to finally see the characters step outside our imaginations and clearly visualize what we've been going crazy for over the past years or, in some cases like mine, months. I can hardly wait!
Catch the film on November 26, Wednesday, at your local theaters. Watch it twice, thrice, ten times so the movie could earn millions! Because, hopefully, if this first installment rocks the Box Office, the adaptation of New Moon and Eclipse are sure to follow. Go, Team Edward! XD
