New BLOG: kikaykalaykay.tumblr.com

Hahaha! The name came from the pet name my father used to call me when I was little. There was actually an EVOLUTION in my nicknames:

Karen to Kaye to Kikay to Kalaykay to Kalayks to Kikay Kalaykay and back to Kaye.

Kikay Kalaykay was the longest nickname I've ever known. And it belongs to me. Haha.

I really really REALLY don't want this to be the last entry. I don't know. It's hard to let go. Sniff. Hahaha. What the heck, I'm still excited to use my new blog.

E-mail me at karengonzales15@yahoo.com for.. uhm.. whatever you'd like to say. BYEEEEEE!

I created my Tmblr account already.

I've decided to LEAVE Blogger. I know. I'm sad, too. But I really want a change. I've used tons of other blog hosts before I finally settled to Blogger. It's so easy to use and I love that I can change my templates whenever I want. Plus, there are thousands of designs to choose from on BlogSkins.

Change and Music. Two reasons. I can't always embed different music players on my blog. I want uniformity. Hehe. Tumblr's user-friendly also. Don't worry. I won't delete this blog. It would kill me if I did. Too many memories. They don't deserve to be trashed.

Expect more photos, music and rants on my new Tumblelog. I'll post the link as soon as I figure out a really nice and appropriate URL. I could change the URL anytime and as often as I want. Not a good thing though because it'd be harder for my avid readers (i.e. my MOM) to find my site. Wee-wolf is very unique and I don't think "KINALAYKAY" (to rake) will beat that. I could use Kalayks, sure. I'll think about it.

Fortunately, this won't be the last post. :)

Tired but happy. Commerce Celebrity Duets (Professor-Student version). Medicine Auditorium. Sir Anthony Altarejos, Finance professor. "Impressive!" Haha.

My jaw hurts. Laughed a lot. UST looks sooo Christmas-y! Lots of lights. I love it very very much! I couldn't take a picture on my camera phone because it doesn't take pictures nicely.

I am deciding whether to move to another BLOG HOST or stay with BLOGGER. I've been using Blogger for years but I want a change. Also, I want to directly upload music files on my blog instead of using online playlists.

Options: Tumblr, Weebly and Blog.com.

I saw Katy Perry's blog and found it really cute. I went blog-hopping and proved that Tumbr's probably the best choice. I also searched for Tumblr themes and liked the simplicity. I'm going to miss this blog though. I'll update you soon.

title: As you wish...
time: 5:05 PM

I love this film! It's so low budgeted and romantic and old and extremely funny and I love that the male lead character's name is Westley, which has a slightly different spelling from my Wesley but still, I love it. Haha. (MY Wesley? Really? Hahahaha. )

Growing up, I've become so used to watching movies with visual effects created with the help of computer technology and the props carefully thought of and delicately made. In The Princess Bride, the fight scene between Westley (*Eeeeeh!*) and Inigo Montoya was shot at a studio decorated with painted cardboards and boulder paper maches which were supposed to make the set look like a ruined structure near a cliff. Haha. And the ROUSes (Rodents of Unusual Size) were scary- but funny-looking!

I love Cary Elwes, the lead actor. He's so gorgey. Haha! I realized that he's the same guy who played Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), which is one of the super funniest movies ever made!! Robin Wright Penn who played Buttercup, aka The Princess Bride, is so pretty. They were perfect on screen. I love all the characters! They weren't trying hard to be comical. Inigo and Fezzik the Giant are definitely my favorites.

Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhyming now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.

Hahaha. This film isn't all about the mushy stuff. Although there were a few kilig moments which, you are not mistaken, made me say "Awwww" fifty times, guys would love the action and the comedy. I'll make sure my 9-year-old sister sees this! I wish I did when I was younger. Go to your favorite video rental store or buy it on DVD or Betamax or VHS or download it on the Internet and check out this amazing film if you don't mind watching a movie with old-school effects. Hehe. :)

Grandpa: [voiceover] Nothing gave Buttercup as much pleasure as ordering Westley around.
Buttercup: Farm boy, polish my horse's saddle. I want to see my face shining in it by morning.
Westley: As you wish.
Grandpa: [voiceover] "As you wish" was all he ever said to her.
Buttercup: Farm boy, fill these with water - please.
Westley: As you wish.
Grandpa: [voiceover] That day, she was amazed to discover that when he was saying "As you wish", what he meant was, "I love you." And even more amazing was the day she realized she truly loved him back.

title: ethics.
time: 9:55 PM

I enjoyed watching Extreme Measures. Sir Cortez mentioned it in our Business Ethics class. I was intrigued and curious so I looked at Papa's DVD collection and found it, thankfully.

Hugh Grant and Gene Hackman play doctors. The ethical issue arises when Dr. Myrick (Hackman) performs spinal experiments on homeless people in order to find a cure for paralysis. Do you consider it morally right to do a medical research and use people as "lab rats" when, as a doctor, you think that there's a great potential that you could find the antidote to an illness that will benefit the whole society and make uncomfortable lives better? What difference does it make if you take away a person who has no family, no money, no food, no shelter and has absolutely no valuable contribution to the world?

The movie makes you come up with tons of questions. Sometimes it's hard to think of the right answer because you don't know where to base the moral integrity of it. Euthanasia, or mercy killing, is allowed in Switzerland, but is illegal in other parts of the world. Who dictates the rightness or wrongness of the practice? Is it the Bible? Lawmakers? Majority of the people? Medicine is susceptible to these kinds of ethical issues. It's a tough field with numerous tough dilemmas. I can't imagine how crucial it is for doctors to make decisions because with one mistake, their whole career and a person's precious life will be put at stake. There's always an issue between making a medical and a moral choice.

I think I'm going to love my Business Ethics class. The discussions are very interesting and I can't wait for Sir Cortez to mention another movie. I love watching films and I'm a fan . Go see Extreme Measures and take a stand. :)

"Those men upstairs, maybe there isn't much point to their lives. Maybe they are doing a great thing for the world. Maybe they are heroes. But they didn't choose to be. You chose for them... And you can't do that, because you're a doctor, and you took an oath. An you're not God. So I don't care if you can do what you say you can. I don't care if you find a cure for every disease on the planet! You tortured and murdered those men upstairs, and that makes you a disgrace to your profession!"
-Dr. Guy Luthan (Hugh Grant)

It feels really nice not to think about school on a Sunday night. Tomorrow's the celebration of the Immaculate Conception. No classes---in all Catholic schools, at least. It's great to take a day off from stress.

I've done nothing important today. I ate A LOT, that's what I did. It doesn't help. I lose self-control when it comes to food. I wonder how much time I have left before I weigh 200 pounds. I have to have those Fergie abs now! Haha.

I love the weather! It's raining and very cold. Reminds me of Forks and Edward Cullen. Wahaha. Okay, okay. I absolutely need to get over it.

I got a perfect score on my CapMar test! Wuhooo! BUT, I didn't do so well on my IE210 quiz. In fact, I got a really, really low grade. Kailangan talagang may balance? Haha. Still, I'm happy... and sleepy. This is why I love the rain. But I have tons of stuff to do. Awwww...

I'll sleep first. Hehehehehe! XD

title: MUSIC keeps me SANE.
time: 4:42 PM

Before the musicalities, kwento ko muna yung tungkol sa weekend kong masaya!

I spent my 3-day "vacation" at home. After my Saturday class, I quickly hopped into a cab and took the 1pm bus trip to Dagupan. I was extremely excited! I bummed around for three whole days. I watched DVDs with my brothers and my sister, finished reading Eclipse, listened to music, ate a lot of chocolates, watched more TV and took some crazy I'm-a-vampire-and-I'm-going-to-bite-you photos with Khrystian and my little sister Kiara (Yep. I'm still not over the Twi fever). It was GREAT! I can't wait to do it again this Christmas break. Haha!

So yeah, I listened to a lot of random songs on my phone this weekend. Most of them were the songs I kept ignoring for so long. Ignore as in, e.g. when Panu Na Kaya (by Bugoy from the PDA Season 2) starts to play, I'll keep pushing the Forward button until I find Single Ladies by Beyonce. I only keep Bugoy's single on my phone for Khrystian's sake because he seems to think that it perfectly describes his "love dilemma". Pffft. Teenagers. Haha. Anyway, the other songs I played are my favorites, those I keep putting on almost all my playlists. If you're in a 5-hour trip on a bus, with nothing else to do but sit, sleep and watch crappy movies on the TV, MUSIC will keep you sane. Trust me. And that's exactly the reason why I keep the 320+ songs on my phone's memory card. The songs I pick depend on my mood, really. So kahit na anong genre, okay lang sa akin.

Here's a list of the songs I played over the weekend and are DEFINITELY worth listening to:

1. Muse: Supermassive Black Hole - This song has been my alarm ringtone for weeks because I love the intensity at the beginning of the song! It was actually love at first hearing. I love the vibe it gives when you blast the volume of your speakers. It refuels my energy. Plus, it's the song playing in the background during the baseball scene, which is one of my favorite parts from the Twilight movie! I also dig the video. I think the concept was "Jabbawockeez give up dancing and turn into rock stars". Haha. Kidding.

2. Plain White T's: 1, 2, 3, 4 - Natutuwa ako sa kantang 'to! The chorus goes: "There's only ONE thing TWO do, THREE words FOUR you... (I love you) I love you." Super cute and sweet.

3. Augustana: Boston - The song I have never deleted since I bought my phone a year ago. I love the piano intro!!!! Gosh, you have no idea how much I'm obsessed with this song. Kahit paulit-ulit, okay lang. Hindi ako nagsasawa.

4. Seabear: Cat Piano - Not really a favorite but I play this once in a while especially when I'd like to go to sleep. It was featured on Gossip Girl Season 2 (Never Been Marcused episode).

5. Yiruma: River Flows In You - The piano score I wished was used as Bella's Lullaby. I think Carter Burwell's composition wasn't as romantic as Yiruma's. He's Korean, by the way, and only 30 years old! Dreamyyyyyy...

6. Iron & Wine: Flightless Bird, American Mouth - Okay, sa Twilight na naman ito. This the song that Edward and Bella are dancing to at the gazebo. When I listen to this, I always remember prom and wedding dances. Sobrang bagay talaga dun sa scene sa movie. Kasi di ba, when you're slow dancing with someone, sobrang relax lang? Ayun! Etong kanta na 'to ang nagpapakalma sa akin! Haha.

7. The All-American Rejects: Gives You Hell - I'm a fan of this band! Hindi pa rin ako maka-get over sa Dirty Little Secrets video. Hahaha. This new single is a headbanging-worthy song! Love, love it!

8. Nadia Oh: Got Ur Number - Isa na rin 'to sa mga ginawa kong alarm ringtone. Perfect club music! Haha. Kasi eto yung dilemma nya, she met this guy and she has his number but she doesn't know if it's a good idea to call him because "now I wonder.. If you want me.. Like I want you". Yun lang. Pero I like that this song is very upbeat. :D

9. Mika: Happy Ending - featured on Gossip Girl Season 1 (The Handmaiden's Tale episode). Favorite namin ni Aileen. Sobrang ganda talaga!

10. Kirsten Dunst: Dream of Me - From the movie Get Over It (2001). Kirsten stars in the film and yes, she sings in it, too! Nashock nga ako eh, marunong pala siyang kumanta. Anyway, this song has been on my CD player, my cellphone and on my computer for years. Since high school hanggang ngaun. Super ganda kasi talaga. Pati si Vincent na-inlove na rin sa kanta. Haha. The MOVIE's about a boy who gets dumped by his long-time girlfriend and he couldn't get over it, thus, the title of the film. His best friend's sister (played by Dunst) helps him to get his ex-gf back but eventually Dunst falls for him. She composes this song and sings it in a school play ("A Midsummer Night's Dream"). Oh, basta ang haba na ng description ko! In short, sa kanta, gusto nung babae na matulog na lang siya lagi kasi dreaming of him is the only chance she's got where she could see and kiss him and touch his face. Tragic noh? :)

11. Chris Cendana: Without You - Chris is actually Fil-American but he's not super famous. Sa YouTube, oo. Friends sila ni Happy Slip. Okay, hindi niyo sila kilala pero promise, ang ganda talaga ng song na 'to! Watch and listen to it on Youtube. It's actually a song about long distance relationships. This is an original composition. :)

12. Just Stand Up: Various Artists - Girl Power! Love, love, looooove this song! Perfect na sana kaso kasama si Miley Cyrus eh. Panira! Ampf.

13. Kate Voegele: It's Only Life - featured on Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, one of my favorite chick flicks. I like this song because the message is absolutely fantastic-o! "Don't be so afraid of facing every day, Just take your time, It's only life..."

14. The Cranberries: Linger - Aaaah. Tong kantang toh! The first time I heard it, I thought it was okay. And then the movie Click came out. This was the song playing when Michael and Donna had their first kiss, and when they danced for the first time, after getting divorced, during their son's wedding. "You know I'm such a fool for youuuuuu..." Hahaha.

15. Neyo: Mad - Do I have to explain why I love this song? NEYO. Period.

16. Lily Allen: Naive - I love her voice! I am now a fan. Love how she said 'pre-ee face' (pretty face). Hehehe.

17. Oasis: Wonderwall - I am so addicted to Lost, the TV series. Charlie Pace (played by Dominic Monaghan) is the rocker in this series and he sang this song in the episode where, while on the island, Desmond Hume (played by Henry Ian Cusick) constantly tries to intervene and changes Charlie's fate--death. Charlie is on the streets, playing his guitar and singing the line "Because maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me..." when he crosses paths with Desmond YEARS before they got "Lost" in the island. Galing, noh? Hehehe.

18. Pink: So What - I love Pink! I love the bad girl attitude. She's sooo cool! She wrote this song for her ex-husband, plus she makes him agree to appear on its video! They're still really good friends. That's cooler. :)

19. Metro Station: Shake It - Maganda kasi napapa-shake talaga ako. Hahaha! Ang corny. :))

20. Beyonce: Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - After so many attempts, I still could not do the choreography on the video. But this man could:

...and I am soooo jealous!

21. T.I.: Whatever You Like - After watching the video, that's the time I realized na cute pala si T.I. Bwahahaha!

22. Sum 41: With Me - I listen to or sing this when I feel like screaming. Hahaha. Ewan ko. Basta. I like this song.

23. Until June: You Do - I heard it playing on Steph's car stereo and I fell in love with it instantly. It was used in a Gossip Girl promo last year. :)

24. Peter Bjorn and John: Young Folks - I call this "The Whistle Song". Haha. Also featured on Gossip Girl (Season 2, Pilot Episode). I love GG music!

25. James Blunt: You're Beautiful and Same Mistake - Wala na akong ibang masabi. Sobrang gustong gutso ko tong dalawalang kanta na toh!!!! I love James Blunt. There was this VJ on Channel V who said that You're Beautiful was one of the most annoying songs he ever listened to. Batuhin ko siya ng sapatos eh! Hmph!

That was a looooong list. Very RANDOM yung mga songs. Actually, marami pa dapat yang mga yan kaso tinatamad na ako. Haha. I'll post the playlist some other time so that you could listen to the songs if you like.

Okay, have to go. I have to catch up on this week's Gossip Girl episode. Hahaha.

STAY IN LOVE WITH MUSIC!
XOXO
