title: As you wish...
I love this film! It's so low budgeted and romantic and old and extremely funny and I love that the male lead character's name is Westley, which has a slightly different spelling from my Wesley but still, I love it. Haha. (MY Wesley? Really? Hahahaha. )
Growing up, I've become so used to watching movies with visual effects created with the help of computer technology and the props carefully thought of and delicately made. In The Princess Bride, the fight scene between Westley (*Eeeeeh!*) and Inigo Montoya was shot at a studio decorated with painted cardboards and boulder paper maches which were supposed to make the set look like a ruined structure near a cliff. Haha. And the ROUSes (Rodents of Unusual Size) were scary- but funny-looking!
I love Cary Elwes, the lead actor. He's so gorgey. Haha! I realized that he's the same guy who played Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), which is one of the super funniest movies ever made!! Robin Wright Penn who played Buttercup, aka The Princess Bride, is so pretty. They were perfect on screen. I love all the characters! They weren't trying hard to be comical. Inigo and Fezzik the Giant are definitely my favorites.
Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*. Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*. Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*. Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*. Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme. Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time. Vizzini: Enough of that. Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead? Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead. Vizzini: No more rhyming now, I mean it. Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut? Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.
Hahaha. This film isn't all about the mushy stuff. Although there were a few kilig moments which, you are not mistaken, made me say "Awwww" fifty times, guys would love the action and the comedy. I'll make sure my 9-year-old sister sees this! I wish I did when I was younger. Go to your favorite video rental store or buy it on DVD or Betamax or VHS or download it on the Internet and check out this amazing film if you don't mind watching a movie with old-school effects. Hehe. :)
Grandpa: [voiceover] Nothing gave Buttercup as much pleasure as ordering Westley around. Buttercup: Farm boy, polish my horse's saddle. I want to see my face shining in it by morning. Westley: As you wish. Grandpa: [voiceover] "As you wish" was all he ever said to her. Buttercup: Farm boy, fill these with water - please. Westley: As you wish. Grandpa: [voiceover] That day, she was amazed to discover that when he was saying "As you wish", what he meant was, "I love you." And even more amazing was the day she realized she truly loved him back.
